About the Museum

Honoring the First Black Labor Union

The National A Philip Randolph Pullman Porter Museum, located at 10406  S Maryland Ave, Chicago, Illinois 60628, is a nonprofit institution dedicated to honoring the first black labor union. Our museum celebrates the legacy of the Pullman Porters and the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, emphasizing their significant contributions to labor rights movements throughout history.

We host annual events such as Black History Month, the Annual Gentle Warrior Gala, Women's Month in March, Black Music Month, and Juneteenth in June. Our celebration of the labor movement occurs from August 25 through Labor Day, featuring back-to-school giveaways and holiday giveaways around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Through our exhibits and community involvement, we strive to connect the efforts of the past with present advocacy, ensuring that the story of black laborers is both acknowledged and appreciated.
